A bus driver caused a serious accident at 9:50 in downtown Merida, as he ran a stop sign and collided with a Sentra. The impact force drove the bus drove onto the pavement and crashed into the wall of a house on 77th Street between 58 and 60.

For about 30 minutes a crew of firefighters from Station One rescue treated the Sentra driver first and then the truck driver, who was trapped in the bus. Both had serious injuries.

Firefighters struggled using crowbars to rescue Daniel Chan Oscar Martinez, truck driver, because the door was stuck and mechanical part of the vehicle was on top of a fence that had blown down.

The driver spent about 15 minutes lying on the floor of the truck, while rescuers opened the door for paramedics from entering the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).

Finally, both drivers were released, treated at the scene of the accident and taken to a private clinic.

The bus boards 801118-Y Line South America, run by Chan Martinez, was traveling from east to west on 77th Street.

A septuagenarian was hit by a heavy unit of public passenger 65th Street for 54 and 52 in the center of Merida.

The bus with license plates 800-428Y moving from east to west on 65th street when suddenly and unexpectedly it ran over Canché Filiberto Martin, 75 years old.

The passager bus ran over to his left foot. Canché Martin suffered an open fracture of tibia and fibula.

A septuagenarian died this noon after being hit by a bus in the streets of Merida.

At approximately 11:30 am, Mr. Miguel Angel Villalobos Calderon, 70 years passed from south to north aboard his bicycle on 66th Street and at the intersection with 87th Street, was collided with a No. 22 bus route and Hospitals Circuito Colonias 701,126-plates and driven by Julio Cesar Felix Narvaez.

The driver of the transport unit's signal did not observe the signals and ran over the old man who lay on the pavement. People who witnessed the accident thought he was dead and covered him with a sheet.

However, when an ambulance arrived at the scene of the SSP, the paramedics noticed that he was still alive and gave aid and then transferred to the hospital O''Horan, and there he died shortly after being admitted due to severe injuries suffered by being run.

The driver Felix Narvaez, age 39, was arrested by agents of the SSP.

Perez Velazquez suffered head trauma, wounds in abdomen, thorax and pelvis, as well as arm and forearm.

Three of the eight passengers aboard the bus had a nervous breakdown when they saw the seriousness of the accident and they were treated by paramedics.

Edward Rene Aguilar Torres, driver of the truck plate 800-431-Y, was traveling from south to north on 56th Street, but on arriving at the 65th hit Perez Velazquez. The bus knocked him down and ran over his abdomen.

Municipal Plicía Agents arrested the driver and turned him over to prosecutors. Verifiers of the Department of Transportation must report to punish the bus company.

For 30 minutes the traffic was closed to avoid interference with work of the paramedics, which was followed by dozens of onlookers from nearby businesses, pedestrians and market tenants Lucas de Galvez who came to see what happened.
