A bus driver caused a serious accident at 9:50 in downtown Merida, as he ran a stop sign and collided with a Sentra. The impact force drove the bus drove onto the pavement and crashed into the wall of a house on 77th Street between 58 and 60.

For about 30 minutes a crew of firefighters from Station One rescue treated the Sentra driver first and then the truck driver, who was trapped in the bus. Both had serious injuries.

Firefighters struggled using crowbars to rescue Daniel Chan Oscar Martinez, truck driver, because the door was stuck and mechanical part of the vehicle was on top of a fence that had blown down.

The driver spent about 15 minutes lying on the floor of the truck, while rescuers opened the door for paramedics from entering the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).

Finally, both drivers were released, treated at the scene of the accident and taken to a private clinic.

The bus boards 801118-Y Line South America, run by Chan Martinez, was traveling from east to west on 77th Street.
